Actor Jung Il-woo shared his impressions after taking on his first global OTT original series through 'Criminal'.

On the 30th, a press conference for Amazon Prime Video's original Japanese drama 'Criminal' was held at CGV Yongsan i-Park Mall in Yongsan-gu, Seoul. Director Matsunaga Taishi and Jung Il-woo attended the event.

'Criminal' is a crime mystery depicting the process of three people who would never have met—a detective, a reporter, and a survivor—drawing closer to a huge truth after a life-or-death pursuit.

Jung Il-woo, who plays the mysterious man 'Takigawa' in the drama and drives the tension of the story, stated, "This is my Japanese debut work, and I filmed it with the heart of a newcomer. I am glad to be able to present this here."

He continued, "Three years ago, the director saw my film 'Highway Family' and said he wanted to work together someday," explaining, "Later, the director proposed that I take on a key role in 'Criminal,' and I accepted immediately."

He added, "I read the original work three times and analyzed the character. Takigawa is a character who raises so much curiosity that it blurs the line between good and evil. I tried to act while seeking answers to the mysteries this character holds."

Jung Il-woo, who continues various global activities, conveyed, "Since this is my Japanese debut work, I tried my best during filming."

He also noted that 'Criminal' has been ranked No. 1 in Japan for three consecutive weeks, saying, "I hope many people in Korea will watch this work as well. Although it is a crime mystery thriller, all characters unfold from the perspective of an observer. I think the next episode will not fail to attract many viewers with how it unfolds."
