Singer Bang Ye-dam, who returned as a solo artist through the group Treasure and under the name of "musical persona" DIMO REX, expressed confidence in her musical transformation.

Recently, interviews were held at the Star News headquarters in Seorin-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul to commemorate the release of DIMO REX and Molyam's first project EP "DIMOLLY."

Bang Ye-dam appeared on SBS survival program "K-pop Star Season 2" in 2013 and won the runner-up prize, being evaluated as "Korea's Justin Bieber" and "Little Michael Jackson." After seven years of training at YG Entertainment, he made his debut as a group TREASURE in 2020.

Then he left the team in 2022 and turned into a solo artist. Since then, Bang Ye-dam has recently been active under the name "DIMO REX" and has been presenting a variety of music that crosses the boundaries of the genre. Demorex is a musical persona created to express the freer and more original music world of Bang Ye-dam.

I'm trying various things from idols to demorex, but the change of being another self also feels somewhat unfamiliar. "When I was working as a character called Demorex, I didn't intentionally let him know that I was Bang Ye-dam at first," he said. "I thought there must be an image I expected from Bang Ye-dam."

"There was a deeper and more diverse music in me, so there were a lot of things I wanted to express. I needed another name to unlock it, and that was Demorex. It may be embarrassing, but I was confident that much," he explained.

As time passed, the process of naturally accepting the fact that "demorex was Bang Ye-dam" itself came to a good effect, he said, adding, "It seems to be still a process in progress."
