Singer and musical actor Kim Jun-soo made a bold statement on the stage at the 62nd Baeksang Arts Awards.

The 62nd Baeksang Arts Awards were held at COEX in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, on the afternoon of the 8th. The hosts were broadcaster Shin Dong-yup, actor Park Bo-gum, and singer and actress Suzy.

The 62nd Baeksang Arts Awards introduced a new musical category this year to mark the 60th anniversary of Korean musicals.

Kim Jun-soo, who won the musical category Yeon Gi-sang-eul (수상) that day, began by saying, "I really didn't expect to receive an award, so I wasn't prepared with what to say."

He added, "It was a joy just to attend the Baeksang Arts Awards, which I had only seen on TV, now that a musical category has been newly added. It was both enjoyable and grateful to be on the same stage with so many stars."

He continued, "I consider this award to be a sign of joy and a call to work harder and develop further. If I may express a personal wish, I hope that from next year, the awards will be given separately for men and women."
