Influencer Ah-O-ri (real name Kim Min-young) revealed that her photos and other personal information had been used in a romance scam.

On the 13th, Ah-O-ri posted several photos on her social media account along with the caption, "This is the story of a foreign man who fell victim to a romance scam."

A romance scam is a form of credit fraud that combines the words "romance" and "scam," in which perpetrators build trust by forming a romantic relationship online before extorting money. Perpetrators typically create fictional personas using stolen photos or generative artificial intelligence (AI) to pose as romantic partners and cause harm.

In the photos released by Ah-O-ri, a foreign man recently left comments on several posts featuring Ah-O-ri, including "The scam you committed" and "You will learn the truth about what you did to me."

According to Ah-O-ri, the man in question was a victim of a romance scam perpetrated by a group that used her photos. Ah-O-ri explained, "What is truly unfortunate is that they even received my passport photo. It seems he was thoroughly deceived. Even though I told him it wasn't me, (the other party) believes it is me and is convinced that it is definitely me."

Ah-O-ri also urged caution, stating, "AI has developed too much. Let us all be careful of romance scams."
