Internet broadcaster Im Ah-ni has apologized after controversy erupted over her comparison of the Incheon stabbing incident to a game character.

On the 14th, Im Ah-ni posted an apology on her SOOP channel, stating, "Today, I became aware of an unfortunate incident during my broadcast interaction. I caused a problem by comparing the stabbing incident to Zerg in content that many people were watching. I am sorry."

Im Ah-ni stated, "Regardless of intent, it is entirely my fault," and added, "I apologize once again to the victims and those around them involved in today's incident."

Furthermore, Im Ah-ni apologized again, saying, "Initially, I did not recognize the seriousness of the situation or my mistake. The remarks I made here were also emotional and escalated the matter further. I am truly sorry."

She continued, "I deeply reflect on my recklessness today and will recognize the weight of a single word as a streamer and take responsibility," adding, "From now on, I will think more deeply before speaking on all matters."

Previously, in a broadcast on the 13th, Im Ah-ni mentioned the stabbing incident that occurred in Incheon that day, stating, "He tied knives to both arms, used Zerg Mutalisks to ride escalators, and stabbed 20 people."

The 'Zerg' mentioned by Im Ah-ni is a character from the real-time strategy game StarCraft, specifically a close-combat unit of the Protoss race. It is a character equipped with swords on both arms that attacks enemies.

Controversy arose as Im Ah-ni compared the Incheon stabbing incident to this character in her remarks. Moreover, she responded to viewers who pointed out her comments during the broadcast by saying, "Just leave." As the controversy grew, Im Ah-ni posted an apology and bowed her head.

Meanwhile, around 1:40 p.m. on the 13th, A (59) attacked citizens with weapons fixed to both hands at a complex commercial facility in Gwaeul-dong, Namdong-gu, Incheon. According to the Incheon Fire and Disaster Management Headquarters, eight people were injured in this incident and transported to hospitals. Among them, one woman in her 20s underwent surgery while in cardiac arrest.

It is known that A has a prior record of serving time for attempted murder and was wearing an electronic ankle monitor at the time of the crime.
