Psy: New Media Honoree at the American Music Awards

In the picture, Psy is posing for the camera with the hosts of the awards, holding the trophy he received at the Coca Cola Red Carpet Live Show, a pre-show of the AMA. Psy received the award for his smash hit “Gangnam Style.” The award was newly created this year just for him because of his amazing popularity on YouTube and social networking sites.

The American Music Awards is sponsored by ABC and only top musicians are invited to attend.

Psy also received the award for Best Video at the 2012 MTV Europe Music Awards ceremony, which was held on November 11 in Frankfurt, Germany.

It now seems possible that he might receive some recognition at the 55th Grammy Awards, which will be held in February next year, and at the 2013 Billboard Music Awards, which will be held in May next year. He is also likely to attend the 2013 Brit Awards, to be held in London on February 20 next year.

Psy performed “Gangnam Style” in the AMA finale along with MC Hammer. The performance was carried live on ABC and YouTube.
