Singer Psy was recently praised for a powerful performance he gave in front of the U.S. President Barack Obama.

On December 9 (local time), Psy attended the ‘Christmas in Washington,’ which was held at the National Building Museum.

Psy appeared on stage and performed his finale in a red stage costume. He performed “Gangnam Style” with dancers wearing reindeer hairbands.

The concert drew a lot of attention with Psy and the President because it was right after the news spread across the Internet that he sang graphic, anti-American lyrics at a 2004 protest concert.

However, the President and First Lady attended the concert with their two daughters. The Washington Post reported on Psy with the title, “A penitent Psy brings “Gangnam Style” to Washington.”

“Psy, the 34-year-old global pop tsunami from South Korea, is here to sing at “Christmas in Washington,” Sundays annual televised charity concert at the National Building Museum. The president sits front and center.”

“But backstage, Psy seems supremely calm. In warm, measured tones, he describes his first visit to Washington as “an honor.” He deeply regrets those words he sang all those years ago.”

The Washington Post also added, “It’s a huge room, and every nook of it fills with giddy, gushy, holly, jolly applause. Psy throws a thumbs-up and silently mouths a Thank you.”

After the concert, Obama had a brief talk with Psy but he didn’t perform the ‘horse dance’ with him. Other performers at the charity concert included Diana Ross and, Demi Lovato, and Megan Hilty.

In brief remarks, Obama said the celebration was “a chance to get in the Christmas spirit, spread some joy and sing along with artists who have much better voices than we do.”

The charity event is scheduled to air December 21 on TNT.
