SNSD recently come out their first new material in fourteen months. On December 21 at 10:00 a.m., the group released “Dancing Queen,” one of the tracks from their fourth album, on major music sites. It’s a cover version of the British pop singer Duffy’s hit song, “Mercy.” The song was recorded by SNSD four years ago.

The previously unreleased song “Dancing Queen” was included in the fourth album because the concept for the album is “Time Machine,” which symbolizes SNSD’s past, present, new challenges, and future. SNSD has released the cover version of this popular song that appeals to people of all ages in advance of the release of the full album, scheduled for January.

It’s been fourteen months since SNSD released a new album in Korea. Their third album, The Boys, came out in October last year. Except for SNSD-Tae Ti Seo’s “Twinkle” and SNSD’s “Mr. Taxi,” “Dancing Queen” is the first SNSD song to be released in Korea in a year and two months.

SNSD will also release new material in the U.S. next year. Having received a lot of attention as the K-pop artists to potentially succeed Psy, SNSD will release a new album in English in the U.S.
