On January 23, the organizers of the Thind Olleh International Smartphone Film Festival reported that Narsha (of the Brown Eyed Girls), Yoo In Young, and Ayako Fujitani will direct films with smartphones for the third Olleh International Smartphone Film Festival Mentor School. This is a program that gives opportunities to some celebrities to work with professional film directors, making films with smartphones under the professionals’ tutelage. Ryu Duk Hwan, Go Soo Hee, and Lee Sun Ho debuted as smartphone film directors last year. Narsha, Yoo, and Fujitani are the second group of “apprentices” of the school.

Narsha acquired an interest in this project through some previous experience she had making a smartphone film for SBS TV’s Heroes in 2011. She will learn from director Lee Ho Jae, who directed the film The Scam.

Yoo was invited to join the project by director Lee Moo Young, who worked with her in the film Like Father, Like Son. Yoo has already gained recognition as a director through her short film Can You Remember The Good Times Only? Yoo will be mentored by director Lee.

The first international celebrity to participate in the project is Fujitani, will be taught by Jung Jung Hoon, a director of photography who has also been a judge of the festival for the last three years. They’ll work on a smartphone film in the U.S.

On January 29, all of these participants talk about their smartphone films at a press conference that will be held at Gwanghwamun Olleh Square.

The Third Olleh International Smartphone Film Festival will be held from April 17 to 20.
