[Roaring Currents] Reaches 4.75 Million Viewers in Five Days

The movie “Roaring Currents” achieved a feat of gathering 4.75 million people during its first week at the cinemas.


 


According to “Korean Film Council”‘s statistics released on August 4th, “Roaring Currents” directed by “Kim Han-Min” took the 1st place in the weekend box office, gathering 3,348,731 people from August 1st to August 3rd. The number of overall moviegoers until August 3rd reached 4,758,987 people.


 


“Roaring Currents” already broke the record for the largest opening ever in South Korea, gathering 680,000 people on its first day. The movie even went further, breaking the record for the fastest Korean movie ever to gather 2 million (three days) and 3 million (four days) people.


 


“Roaring Currents”, whose popularity had risen more on weekends, even set a new record for the Korean film with most moviegoers in a day – attracting 1.22 million on August 2nd, and 1.25 million on August 3rd.
