[Roaring Currents] becomes the first Korean movie to earn 100 billion won

The movie [Roaring Currents] will become the first Korean movie to reach a 100 billion income.


 


According to ‘Korean Film Council’ on August 15th, [Roaring Currents] gathered 429,095 moviegoers on August 14th, thereby reaching an aggregate of 12,564,597 viewers.


 


With current speed, it is estimated that the movie will exceed the 13-million-viewer mark on August 15th, and will reach a total profit of 100 billion won.


 


[Avatar], which was popular even on 3D and 4D theaters with more expensive tickets, earned 128.4 billion won in South Korea at the time. (Statistics provided by ‘Korean Film Council’) If the average ticket cost of a movie is assumed as 7800 won, [Roaring Currents] will exceed [Avatar]‘s profit if the movie gathers an aggregate of 16.5 million viewers.
