Shinhwa, the oldest idol group who debuted 14 years ago, was recently selected as a role model for young idol groups.
The group will return to performing after 4 a year hiatus. Since many idol singers mentioned that their role model is Shinhwa, the group’s fame and activities over 14 years are returning to the spotlight.
Lots of idol groups, including, Super Junior, Big Bang, 2PM, and Teen Top said they look to Shinhwa as role models. SNSD’s Yoona said, “Like Shinhwa, the oldest idol group in Korea, I want to be with SNSD members until the end, even after I become a married woman.”
Shinhwa said, “We are always trying hard to keep our own brand relevant. We are grateful to other Idol groups for mentioning us as their role model. I heard that it’s rare, in other countries, for a group not to change or lose a single member in 14 years. We plan to work even harder in the future.”
Plans for Shinhwa’s 10th album, which features songs written by several popular Korean songwriters and the group members, should be released soon. They will hold their comeback concert ‘The Return’ on March 24 and 25.
Shinhwa will start appearing on TV through KBS’s Win Win on March 8.
