TWS has undergone a striking transformation, taking aim at a new era with a powerful hip-hop track.
On September 22, TWS (Shinyu, Dohun, Youngjae, Hanjin, Jihoon, Kyungmin) released “Head Shoulders Knees Toes”, the pre-release track from their 4th mini album play hard. The six members showcased a stronger, bolder energy, revealing a charm they had never shown before. Having long been loved as the “icons of freshness,” their latest change is drawing even more attention.
Since their debut track “Plot Twist”, which highlighted youthful innocence, TWS has consistently pursued a bright, refreshing image through songs like “If I’m S, Be My N” and “Unplugged Boy”. Their music became a go-to choice for survival shows, covers by singers, actors, and entertainers alike—earning them the reputation of being the “textbook of freshness.”
At the same time, TWS has gradually expanded their musical spectrum. Through songs such as “Double Take”, “Comma”, and “Freestyle”, they showcased a free-spirited hip-hop mood and dynamic choreography, hinting at their potential for growth. Given their strong stage performance skills, fans had long hoped for music that could fully channel their powerful energy. “Head Shoulders Knees Toes” continues this evolution. The sound is heavy, the performance dynamic, and their large-scale choreography with numerous dancers exudes overwhelming impact. In particular, the kip-up technique during the dance break—springing to their feet from a lying position without using hands—demonstrates their prowess as “top-tier performers.” With flawless execution of their strongest asset, dance, TWS is signaling their ambition to be recognized as next-generation performance leaders.
The music video received positive reviews immediately upon release. Fans commented, “They’re not only good at fresh concepts, they can crush powerful music too,” “TWS looks amazing taking on this challenge,” and “Their stage will be so fun to watch—can’t wait.” Their bold attempt has raised anticipation even higher for the upcoming album.
Meanwhile, according to HYBE’s music group label Pledis Entertainment, TWS’s 4th mini album play hard will be released on October 13 at 6 PM.
