BTS member Suga has resumed social media activity two years after a DUI controversy and a 5 billion KRW donation.
On September 22, Suga shared several photos on his Instagram without any caption. In the released images, he is seen playing guitar while carrying it on his back. The studio-like atmosphere captured in the photos led netizens to speculate that he might be preparing for a comeback.
In August 2024, Suga was caught riding an electric scooter under the influence near his home in Seoul, with a blood alcohol level of 0.227%. He received a fine, however, as the incident occurred outside of his work duties, there was no disciplinary action from the Military Manpower Administration.
At the time, Suga issued a handwritten apology, stating: “My thoughtlessness has caused pain to everyone who cares about me. I will strive to never repeat such mistakes and live with remorse. I will accept all forthcoming measures, criticism, and censure. I sincerely bow my head and apologize once again for causing social controversy and disappointing many people.”
After completing his mandatory military service as a social service worker, Suga donated 5 billion KRW to Severance Hospital in June. According to the hospital, his donation will be used to establish the Min Yoongi Treatment Center, which supports the treatment and social independence of children and adolescents with autism spectrum disorder.
