BTS leader RM delivered a keynote speech at the APEC CEO Summit in Gyeongju.
On the afternoon of the 29th, RM took the stage at the APEC CEO Summit, becoming the first K-pop artist ever to speak at the event. Addressing an audience of around 500 people, he gave a ten-minute speech on the theme “The Cultural and Creative Industries of the APEC Region and the Soft Power of K-Culture (From a Creator’s Perspective).”
RM began by saying, “It’s an honor to meet all of you, the leading figures of APEC, here in the Republic of Korea—the country where I was born and raised—and to have this opportunity to introduce myself and share my message.” He continued, “As a creator, I feel a deep sense of pride and anticipation knowing that, for the first time this year, the cultural industry has been elevated as a core agenda of APEC.”
He added, “From the perspective of a creator, I would like to talk about how K-pop has transcended borders to touch people’s hearts, and what that emotional connection truly means. I also wish to ask the global leaders gathered here today for their continued interest and cooperation in building a creative and sustainable cultural ecosystem for the future.”
