BTS (BTS) Jung-kook wrote new history by perfectly dominating the World Cup final halftime show.

On July 20 (Korean time), Jung-kook participated in the halftime show of the 2026 FIFA North American World Cup final, marking his second consecutive appearance at a FIFA World Cup event. This follows his performance at the official soundtrack concert for the opening ceremony of the 2022 FIFA Qatar World Cup, making him the first and only male and Asian artist to perform more than twice on multiple FIFA World Cup stages in history.

In this final halftime show, which was introduced for the first time in 96 years of World Cup history, BTS appeared on the central stage of the stadium and performed their global hit song "Dynamite." The stage was planned by Chris Martin of the world-renowned band Coldplay. Jung-kook changed the original lyric "kick the drum" to "kick the ball" to suit the final match atmosphere.

Following his solo performance at the 2022 Qatar World Cup, Jung-kook now participated in the final halftime show as a complete group with all seven members. He also became one of only two artists worldwide to perform more than twice on the main stage of the World Cup finals, alongside Shakira.

Following the performance, related metrics continued to rise. On global music media and social media platform X (formerly Twitter), Jung-kook recorded over 800,000 mentions immediately after his performance ended, ranking as the "most mentioned solo artist on Twitter related to the 2026 World Cup." A phenomenon known as "roof kick" reached peak levels in real-time search data on Google Trends globally and in the United States, securing the number one spot in global Google Trends search queries.

American creator IShowSpeed, who has 59 million subscribers, watched Jung-kook's performance live during a real-time broadcast. Meanwhile, after BTS's stage, performances by pop stars including Justin Bieber, Shakira, and Burna Boy followed.
