[Editor’s Note] Reporter Choi Hye-jin introduces hit songs she used to listen to during her "Latte" days.

Ten years ago, singer Han Dong-geun achieved a remarkable reverse hit. Two years after its release, his debut song climbed to the top of music charts.

On September 30, 2014, Han Dong-geun's debut single "I Try to Rewrite the End of This Novel" was released. The title track of the same name is an emotional ballad filled with lingering feelings and regrets for a former lover. Han Dong-geun's poignant vocals enhanced the song's atmosphere.

The song did not receive a hot response at the time of its release. Although Han Dong-geun had gained recognition as the winner of MBC "The Great Birth 3," his public popularity was not high after his debut.

Two years later, the situation changed. Han Dong-geun began to attract attention again by appearing on various variety shows. He showcased his outstanding singing abilities through MBC's "King of Mask Singer" and "Duet Song Festival." In particular, his appearance on "Duet Song Festival" became a turning point. As Han Dong-geun's skills were rediscovered, interest turned toward his past releases. Naturally, his debut song "I Try to Rewrite the End of This Novel" appeared on music charts.

The ranking rose quickly. About two years after its release, on August 25, 2016, it reached number one on Melon's real-time chart. A debut song released two years prior had claimed the top spot on music charts. It also took first place in Melon's comprehensive weekly charts for the fourth week of August (the 22nd–28) and the fifth week of August (the 29th – September 4). This was a record jump of 20 positions higher than Jeonju.

The song also achieved good results on music shows. In September 2016, it claimed first place on KBS 2TV's "Music Bank." For Han Dong-geun, this was his first number-one win on terrestrial music broadcasts since his debut.

In the end, a good song knows no time. Han Dong-geun rewrote his own record with "I Try to Rewrite the End of This Novel."
