While heavy rain has been falling nationwide, a severe rain warning has been issued primarily for southern regions. Rain is also pouring down at Daegu Samsung Lions Park, where the match between Samsung Lions and Hanwha Eagles is scheduled to take place. However, one variable has emerged: a change in Daegu's weather conditions.

Samsung and Hanwha are set to play their 13th game of the 2026 Shinhan SOL KBO League season at Daegu Samsung Lions Park starting at 7 p.m. on the 16th.

Until that morning, it appeared difficult for the match to proceed, as rain was forecast to fall continuously from the previous night through the entire day of the 16th.

The infield of Lions Park has been covered with a tarp since the previous night. As of around 3 p.m., significant rainfall continues.

However, weather information has changed. According to the Korea Meteorological Administration, rain clouds over Yeonho-dong, Suseong-gu, where the stadium is located, have weakened, and only light rain of less than 1mm per hour is expected from around 4 p.m. until about 8 p.m.

In reality, whether rain will fall at all or stop completely remains a variable. If any rain falls, it is common practice to leave the tarp in place and monitor the situation. If the rain does not stop, the start of the match may be delayed or become difficult.

If the rain stops, the situation could vary depending on the condition of the field. Since heavy rain has fallen since the previous night, whether the game can begin will depend on how long it takes to repair the ground. The condition of the warning track made of dirt near the outfield grass is a key variable. Along with changing weather conditions, the judgment of the home plate umpire has become even more important.
