Professional football K League 2 team Jeonnam Dragons apologized for the recent controversy over player drinking and bullying among players within its squad.

On the 22nd, the Jeonnam club stated through its official channels, "Recently, an unfortunate incident occurred within the squad involving some players' drinking and bullying among players. This is conduct that directly contradicts the club's operational direction of aiming for a clean club while forgetting the sportsmanship spirit," adding, "We bow our heads in apology to all fans for causing concern due to the unfortunate matter within the squad."

The Jeonnam club stated, "After grasping the facts, the club took immediate action to expel those involved as a deterrent to prevent future occurrences," adding, "We will once again clearly reaffirm the principle that members of the squad must act responsibly as professional players, showing mutual respect and demonstrating sportsmanship. Furthermore, we will further strengthen our squad management and character education systems to ensure similar cases do not recur, and strive to become a model club."

According to sources in the football industry, Player A, who was recently released by the Jeonnam club, has been suspected of frequently summoning Player B and habitually assaulting them. Recently, while intoxicated at the club's clubhouse, Player A assaulted Player B, leading the Jeonnam club to ultimately expel Player A following an investigation. The Korea Professional Football League also requested a fact-verification document from the Jeonnam club, and it is reported that they will review whether to refer Player A to the disciplinary committee.
