Actress Gong Hyo-jin (46) is teaming up with newcomer Jung Jun-won (38) to make her comeback on MBC after 15 years.

MBC's new Friday-Saturday drama 'Married Woman Killer' (script by Kim Eun-hee / directed by Yoon Jong-ho and Kim Ji-hoon) is a drama depicting the struggle of a working mother with one of the most brutal professions in the world to protect her work-life balance.

In the drama, Gong Hyo-jin plays Yoo Bo-na, also known as Kingfisher, a legendary sniper who eliminates vicious criminals and is the wife of reporter Kwon Tae-sung (played by Jung Jun-won). She will appear before viewers with an unprecedented double life: as a perfectionist who is colder and more charismatic than anyone else at work, and as an ordinary 30-something housewife living with her husband and daughter at home.

In particular, Gong Hyo-jin drew even more attention by presenting an MBC work for the first time in 15 years since the drama 'Best Love' in 2011. Regarding her reason for appearing in 'Married Woman Killer', she stated, "I felt interested after reading the webtoon first. Although it is a dark hero story, what was most charming was that the drama focused more on the ordinary daily life of a married woman rather than being centered around events."

Additionally, Gong Hyo-jin said she concentrated on character research for the contrasting roles of a married woman and a killer. She explained, "Yoo Bo-na as a married woman is always kind and wears a smile, but Yoo Bo-na as a killer was prepared to be emotionless and unshakable at any moment, something I have never shown in dramas before."

Regarding the synchronization rate with her character, Gong Hyo-jin remarked uniquely, "Yoo Bo-na deals flexibly in any situation. I also possess flexibility forged through my profession as an actress, and that part aligns well with hers."

She further emphasized Yoo Bo-na's unique sense of justice, stating, "The setting where she puts her own safety aside and takes action rather than words on behalf of crime victims is powerful. When we often see unbelievable crime news, doesn't everyone at some point think they want to step forward themselves? I hope viewers will feel that vicarious satisfaction while watching 'Married Woman Killer'."

Finally, Gong Hyo-jin defined 'Married Woman Killer' as a "differentiated female dark hero story" and added, "I hope many people will feel the thrill of 'Yoo Bo-na-style retribution' toward real love, not just a simple love story, and the events we have encountered in the news." She did not forget to urge viewers to watch the broadcast live.

'Married Woman Killer' is based on the popular Kakao webtoon of the same title and will premiere at 9:50 p.m. on the 31st.
