Recently, advertisements for health and beauty products featuring celebrities such as Jang Young-ran, actress Yoo Jin, Jang Na-ra, and broadcaster Seo Jeong-hee as models were caught by the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety in a crackdown on false or exaggerated advertising.

According to Chosun Ilbo, the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety recently inspected advertisements for health functional foods and beauty devices, uncovering numerous cases that implied medical effects or used expressions that could mislead consumers into mistaking them for pharmaceuticals or medical devices.

A diet health functional food from a company under Jang Yeong-ran-i (CEO) was found problematic for stating "your stomach becomes smaller, making binge eating impossible." Jang Young-ran currently operates the brand Yelanyu. It is reported that she personally plans the brand's products and actively serves as their advertising model. Last year, she was also penalized with a fine for violating the Food Labeling and Advertising Act.
