Actor Hwang Jung-eum faced renewed controversy after sharing a video of herself and her two sons enjoying fireworks from their home, reportedly worth 4.6 billion won, with a view of the Han River.

On the 5th, Hwang posted a video on her personal account showing her and her two sons watching the 'Seoul World Fireworks Festival 2026'.

The video captured Hwang and her two sons enjoying fireworks from their home, offering a panoramic view of the Han River and Namsan Tower. As fireworks lit up the night sky, Hwang exclaimed, "Wow, it's beautiful," while her children repeatedly expressed awe.

Hwang watched the fireworks festival from her single-family home in Itaewon, Seoul, which is believed to have been purchased for approximately 4.6 billion won in 2020. The property gained attention for its unobstructed Han River view and the ability to enjoy the fireworks festival from within the house.

However, unexpected controversy arose. As Hwang's expensive home came back into focus, her past conviction for embezzling approximately 4.3 billion won of funds from a family corporation was also brought up again.

Some netizens expressed discomfort with her decision to share images of her luxury home and leisurely lifestyle, given that she received a suspended sentence for the massive embezzlement charges. Conversely, others argued that linking her act of enjoying fireworks with her children at home to past incidents was excessive.

Meanwhile, Hwang was brought to trial on charges of embezzling approximately 4.34 billion won from a family corporation's funds and admitted to the allegations. She later fully compensated the victims, and the court sentenced her to two years in prison with a four-year suspension.

Hwang married a businessman who was formerly a professional golfer in 2016 and had two sons, but they divorced last May. She is currently raising her two sons alone.
