Actor Sung Hoon showcased his unique affection for "The Boss's Vulgar Taste."

MBN's new Wednesday-Thursday drama "The Boss's Vulgar Taste" (directed by Kang Sol, written by Nam Ji-yeon) is a disguised romance that hits the mark of taste, featuring Kwon Do-hyuk (played by Sung Hoon), a chaebol boss with zero taste who sets out to find "Her" within a single album, and Lee Eun-chae (played by Oh Se-young), an indie band vocalist who appears as the only variable in his perfect life.

In the drama, Sung Hoon portrays Kwon Do-hyuk, the representative of Oyes Entertainment, who is a perfectionist more AI-like than artificial intelligence itself. Kwon Do-hyuk, whose taste is so firm that he insists on classical music alone, judges all matters according to his own standards and principles. However, his daily life, which had been lived strictly by the data, begins to waver as he encounters Lee Eun-chae, who is unpredictable. Sung Hoon is expected to drive the drama forward by depicting Kwon Do-hyuk's multi-faceted transformation as he faces unfamiliar emotions and gradually changes.

Ahead of its first broadcast, Sung Hoon cited his past connection through previous works and the script as reasons for joining, stating it was a project with "no reason not to do." He said, "Setting aside his luxurious family background, the character of Kwon Do-hyuk himself is attractive because he possesses outstanding abilities," adding with a joke, "He's a friend who will never starve no matter where he goes."

Sung Hoon also shared the process of preparing for the character of Kwon Do-hyuk. He said, "I thought a lot about what kind of life someone with both money and outstanding abilities would actually live." Regarding the original web novel, he stated, "While keeping the broad framework, I tried to stay faithful to the drama script while expressing it in a way that reflects my own feel," heightening expectations for "Sung Hoon's version of Kwon Do-hyuk."

Sung Hoon identified three keywords representing the character of Kwon Do-hyuk: "aversion to people," "self-objectification," and "actually, a child throwing tantrums." He described Kwon Do-hyuk as "a lonely figure who is clumsy with emotional expression and feels difficulty in forming relationships with others." Sung Hoon urged viewers to "watch how Kwon Do-hyuk experiences various emotions and changes after meeting Lee Eun-chae." Attention is focused on Sung Hoon's passionate performance, which will capture the delicate emotional lines of Kwon Do-hyuk.

How is his chemistry with co-star Oh Se-young? Sung Hoon said, "She is such a bright and positive actor that I am also receiving good energy from her. Thanks to that, there are many things to laugh about, and we are filming happily," boasting of the warm atmosphere on set. Interest is gathering in the romantic chemistry the two will showcase.

Finally, Sung Hoon revealed his sincerity toward the character, saying, "I am trying my best to understand and express Kwon Do-hyuk's thoughts and actions." He then encouraged viewers to watch the live broadcast, adding, "I hope many people can feel a warm and fluffy sensation."

The first episode of "The Boss's Vulgar Taste" will air at 10:20 p.m. on November 11.

Meanwhile, Sung Hoon previously faced widespread public criticism for showcasing "bad-mannered" mukbang (eating broadcasts) on the tvN variety show "Queuing Restaurant" in 2022. At the time, he received fierce backlash for unsanitary behavior and ultimately issued an apology.
