TV personality Kim Ji-hyun, a former member of the group Rula, shared the painful memory of losing her mother, with whom she had been estranged for 20 years.

Kim appeared on the YouTube channel 'Neoui Han,' released on the 17th, alongside Rula member Lee Sang-min, and confessed about his family background.

He recalled the time he returned to Korea holding the cremated remains of his mother, who had passed away in the United States. At the moment he was passing through the security checkpoint at New York Airport with his mother's ashes, which had been cremated without a formal three-day funeral being held locally, he shed tears, saying, "Tears poured out as I saw my mother returning as ashes after 20 years."

Kim explained the reason for his long estrangement from his mother. He revealed that when the family's financial situation became difficult in the past, his mother sold the land owned by Kim's father and moved to the United States, where she started a new family.

He confessed, "My mother did her best for her children and supported everything I wanted, but it was so heartbreaking to see my father left alone that I could not forgive my mother at the time." He added, "We lost contact for over 10 years, and ultimately, I had to say goodbye without seeing my mother's face even once in 20 years."

Meanwhile, Kim debuted as a member of Rula in 1994 and released numerous hit songs such as 'Angel Who Lost Its Wings' and '3!4!'. He married a businesswoman two years his junior in 2016.
