Another star has set. Actor Choi Bul-am, known as the "National Father," has passed away at the age of 87.

Choi Bul-am died around 10 p.m. on the 29th while hospitalized for treatment at a hospital in Gangseo-gu, Seoul. The late actor's wake is being held at the Seoul Asan Medical Center funeral hall, and it will open to the general public from 10 a.m. on the 30th.

Actor Choi Bul-am, whose health issues had drawn public concern since last year, has finally found eternal rest. Last year, Choi stepped down from "Korean Table," a program he had hosted for 14 years on KBS 1TV.

Attention focused on Choi Bul-am, who had been focusing on health management without any activities since then. In March of this year, actor Baek Il-seop appeared on a broadcast and mentioned Choi's health, which became a topic of discussion.

At the time, Baek Il-seop appeared on the MBN variety show "Altoran" and expressed his sorrow by saying, "My senior brothers are leaving one by one," while mentioning actor Lee Soon-jae, who passed away last year. Mentioning Choi Bul-am, Baek said, "There is no contact from my brother Bul-am either. I call, but he doesn't pick up the phone. I can't ask him detailed questions, so I'm worried. I hope my brother Bul-am shakes it off and gets back on his feet quickly," sharing his concerns about his health. Baek Il-seop, born in 1944, is four years younger than Choi Bul-am, who was born in 1940.

Subsequently, although Choi Bul-am was scheduled to appear in the two-part documentary "Paha, I Am Choi Bul-am," a special for Family Month on MBC that aired last May, he did not appear on the broadcast citing his desire to focus on treatment, which added to the concerns.

Choi Bul-am, who had been focusing on treatment, ultimately could not make it past October, delivering sad news and evoking sympathy.

Meanwhile, Choi Bul-am debuted in 1959 with the play "Hamlet." He was loved as a national actor for his roles such as the righteous Captain Park Young-han in the MBC drama "Susa Banjang" (Detective Chief) and Chairman Kim of Yangchon-ri in "Jeonwon Ilgi" (Country Diary). The late actor engaged in diverse acting activities, moving between theater stages, television, and film. He showcased deep performances in films such as "Pakgye," "Jinjja Jinjja Ijima" (Really Really Don't Forget), and "Chueu-ui Jeungin" (The Last Witness). He also gained great empathy from the public with his central role performances in numerous hit dramas such as "Yeomyeong" (Dawn), "Adeul-gwa Dal" (Son and Daughter), "Geudae Geurigo Na" (You and I), and "Sikgaek" (Gourmet). Additionally, through the variety program "Korean Table," he has long shared the flavors and warmth of the entire country, communicating with viewers through his warm talk.
