The 2013 MelOn Music Awards announces its pick of the top 10 K-pop artists of the year

LOEN Entertainment, which operates the online music distribution service MelOn, and MBC Plus Media have announced the 10 artists who have achieved the greatest popularity with fans this year. In the first round of voting these artists were chosen as the Top 10 of 2013: EXO, Davichi, Dynamic Duo, Busker Busker, B2ST, SHINee, SISTAR, IU, Ailee, and G-Dragon.

Boy idols remained strong, taking up four spots out of the 10, while skillful female vocalists, including Davichi, SISTAR, IU, and Ailee, also showed did well.

The winners will receive awards as the 2013 MelOn Music Awards Top 10, which were determined by weighted scoring, combining 20 percent of the first round of the online poll (a total of 1.74 million votes) and 8 percent of online sales figures. The 10 stars will then jump into the second round of online polls to distinguish winners in such categories als best artist, best album, and best song, all of which will be announced at the awards ceremony to be held on November 14.
