[Dr. Stranger]��s Legacy, Talented Actors + Unique Drama

SBS’s Monday, Tueday drama [Dr. Stranger] aired its last episode and ended its streak of unique drama and great performances by its talented actors.

‘Dr.Stranger’ is a medical drama which followed the story of a genius North Korean doctor ‘Park Hoon’(Lee Jong-suk) living as a stranger as he struggled to socially adapt to the doctor group atmosphere of Korea’s best fictatious hospital ‘Myung-woo College Hospital.’ So what did ‘Dr. Stranger’ leave after protecting their number one ratings spot from all Monday Tuesday dramas?

�� Skillful acting performances from actors that were able to last until the end

‘Dr. Stranger’s gang of 4, ‘Lee Jong-Suk’, ‘Jin Sae-Yeon’, ‘Park Hae-Jin’, and ‘Kang So-Ra’ proved their developed acting skills through this drama.

FIrstly, ‘Lee Jong-Suk’ showed his presence fully. ‘Lee Jong-Suk’, who made this drama’s expectation higher, created his own individual character of ‘Park Hoon’ and led the drama strongly.

With this drama, ‘Jin Sae-yeon’ challenged double acting roles. She expressed characters of ‘Song Jae-hee’ who was known to be in North Korea and Korea’s ‘Hang Seung-hee’ who tend to be more strict than anybody else. ‘Jin Sae-yeon’ showed her developed acting skills by discriminating each two characters individually and leaving hints during the drama that the two person is eventually the same person.

‘Park Hae-jin’, who was loved by taking the roles of friendly man ‘Whee Kyung’ in ‘You Who Came from the Stars,’ expressed cold character ‘Han Jae-joon’ in ‘Dr. Stranger.’ He especially made great detailed emotions when he started to truly love ‘Oh Soo-hyun’ (Kang So-ra) when he originally faked loved her in order revenge for his father. With this drama, audiences were able to find new sides of ‘Park Hae-jin’.

In addition, Kang So-ra made many audiences sad with her crying actings. Her acting that came out from her deepest and honest heart made many people to get higher expectation for her next work.

Other than that, the drama showed PD ‘Jin Hyuk’ ‘s close relationship and connections as many skillful actors were casted. ‘Chun Ho-jin’, ‘Kim Yong-gun’, ‘Park Hae-joon’, ‘Choi Jung-woo’, ‘Jeong In-ki’, ‘Jeon Guk-hwan’ etc boasted their presence during each drama episodes too.

�� A unique challenge of medical +spy + romance

‘Dr. Stranger’ is a drama that mixed many genres. A medical background of Myung-woo College Hospital, a spy drama that talks about the stories of North Korea and South Korea, and loving relationship between ‘Park Hoon’ & ‘Jin Sae-yeon’, and ‘Hang Jae-joon’ & ‘Oh So-hyeon’ added romance in it too.

Like the word ‘Starting is the first half of process,’ ‘Dr. Stranger’s genre collaboration gained huge attention just with the genre mix challenge itself. From the battle of domination between ‘Dr. Stranger’ and MBC drama ‘Triangle,’ ‘Dr. Stranger’ actually won, able to continue their number one spot of TV ratings.

‘Dr. Stranger’s surgery scene was especially the most entertaining part. The scene when Park Hoon draws all the surgery process as a simulation before going on to the real surgery, the scene when a real living heart appears during a surgery, and the scene of Park Hoon performing the surgery itself provided great entertainments to the audiences.

From here, a critical incident that talks about Park Hoon’s background, spy story of a secret organization’s conspiracy, and 4 characters complicated romance were added to make ‘Dr. Stranger’s unique genre color stronger.

‘Dr. Stranger’ was criticized for lack of probability during the plot. However all of these negative comments were worrying messages that came out from audiences’ attention. It truly will be a long lasting drama for many audiences.

Meanwhile ‘Dr. Stranger’s post drama is going to be ‘Temptation,’ starring Kwon Sang-woo and Choi Ji-woo. ‘Temptation’ is a story about a man choosing a irrevocable but tempting decision after being in the dead end of his life. It will be first broadcasted in upcoming July 14th.
