[The Pirates] tops 5 million viewers

“Kim Nam-gil” and “Son Ye-jin”‘s blockbuster movie [The Pirates] has topped 5 million viewers.


 


According to “Lotte Entertainment” on August 22th, [The Pirates: Bandits Going to the Sea] (directed by “Lee Seok-hun”) reached the number six o’clock on August 22th (data released by the “Korean Film Council”). Today was the 17th day since its release on August 6th.


 


With reaching 5 million viewer, [The Pirates] also exceeded the break-even point, and became the third Korean movie released this year to top 5 million viewers after [Miss Granny] and [The Admiral: Roaring Currents].


 


The comedy-action movie tells a story about bandits, pirates and the Joseon Dynasty’s founding contributors searching and recovering the missing royal seal from the whale that swallowed it. It stars “Kim Nam-gil”, “Son Ye-jin”, “Yoo Hae-jin”, “Lee Gyeong-young”, “Oh Dal-soo”, “Kim Tae-woo”, “Park Cheol-min”, “Shin Jung-geun”, “Kim Won-hae”, “Cho Dal-hwan”, “Cho Hee-bong”, “Jeong Sung-hwa”, “Seol-li” and “Lee yi-kyung”.
