On January 1st, SM Entertainment (hereinafter referred to as SM) will open the Sustainability Forum for the first time among domestic entertainment companies and lead the global movement for a better world.

'SM Sustainability Forum' is a forum to discuss the role of K-pop and the Korean Wave, which have a global influence in the climate change problem facing modern society and the sustainable development of the earth. Experts in each field are invited to the event, and SM artists also connect online to watch together.

SM planned and hosted this forum with 2023 as the first year of the 'Sustainability Movement'.

In addition, the 'K-Pop Festival to Plant Trees' proposed by Chief producer Lee Soo-man was held, and the campaign song project, starting with 'The Cure', the double title song of SMTOWN's winter album containing a message of sustainable solidarity, will be launched in the future. will be disclosed.

This forum, under the theme of 'Humanity & Sustainability', included a keynote speech by general producer Lee Soo-man, 'the founder of K-pop', and Choi Jae-chun, a 'world-class ecologist and evolutionary biologist' chair professor at the Department of Ecoscience and Life Diversity at Ewha Womans University. 

Presentations will be made by the chairman of the foundation, Sam Richard, 'America's representative Hallyu scholar', and Rory Mulvey, professor of sociology at Pennsylvania State University.

In the special conversation held after the announcement, Daphna Jour, an associate professor of East Asian language and culture at Stanford University, who is a 'remarkable American Korean literature and popular culture expert', as moderator, and Executive Producer Lee Soo-man and Professor Choi Jae-cheon, as panelists, were the representative artists who led the global K-pop syndrome. ' EXO's Suho is attending. Suho uses his experience as an artist to tell honest stories related to K-pop and the sustainable development of the earth.

This forum will be broadcast free of charge worldwide through YouTube, Beyond LIVE, TikTok, Instagram, etc. from 12:00 PM (Korean time) on January 1, and will be broadcast on various OTT platforms in Indonesia, Thailand, and Vietnam from 7:00 PM on the same day. 

Following the forum, 'SMTOWN LIVE 2023: SMCU PALACE@KWANGYA' will also be held from 1:00 PM. The performance is scheduled to open with the music video for 'The Cure', a song that announces the start of a global movement that SM will create in the future in response to climate change.
