BTS's Jin's 'The Astronaut,' Top 2 on Spotify UAE... Dazzling Popularity One Year After Release

Jin's 'The Astronaut' continues to receive immense love and global popularity, even more than a year after its release.

Co-written and composed by Jin alongside the world-renowned band Coldplay, the Korean song 'The Astronaut' climbed to the top of the 'Daily Top Song UAE' chart on its one-year anniversary, October 28. This achievement is particularly noteworthy as Jin remains on active duty as an Army instructor, showcasing his unwavering popularity.

Upon its release on October 28 of the previous year, 'The Astronaut' entered the 'Daily Top Song UAE' chart at the 6th position, maintaining its popularity. After re-entering the chart on April 27 at 61st place, the song rapidly climbed, securing the top spot for five consecutive days from May 15, marking a reversal of its chart position. In July, the song again topped the chart on the 2nd, 6th, and 11th days.

'The Astronaut' also claimed the top spot on the 'Weekly Top Song UAE' chart for two consecutive weeks on June 29 and July 6. On August 13, it achieved 1st place on the 'Spotify Daily Top Song UAE' chart.

Despite Jin's military service, 'The Astronaut,' a love song dedicated to his fans before enlistment, became the first solo single certified as a million-seller by the Korea Music Content Association (KMCA). Notably, in the competitive landscape of the U.S. Billboard Hot 100, where entry is challenging due to the releases of new albums and singles by Taylor Swift and Rihanna, 'The Astronaut' debuted at 51st place, making a remarkable achievement. It swiftly rose to 1st place on the Billboard 'Digital Song Sales Chart' and 'World Digital Song Sales Chart,' garnering significant attention.
