Jungkook, the only Korean singer, emerged as a 'Global Pop Star' on the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI)'s '2023 Global Single Chart' by securing the 10th spot.

BTS's Jungkook clinched the 10th position on the '2023 Global Single Chart' released by IFPI on the 26th (local time) with his first solo single 'Seven (feat. Latto)' released in July last year. IFPI, which has more than 8,000 record companies as its members worldwide, releases a list summarizing the trends in the music industry every year. Among them, the 'Global Single Chart' ranks based on metrics such as paid subscription streaming and single track downloads. This year, artists like Miley Cyrus with 'Flower', SZA with 'Kill Bill', Harry Styles with 'As It Was', and Taylor Swift with 'Cruel Summer' decorated this chart, with Jungkook being the only Korean artist to make the list. Jungkook demonstrated his stature as a 'Global Pop Star' by breaking into the IFPI chart with his debut solo track 'Seven'.

The IFPI 'Global Single Chart' saw Psy as the first Korean artist to enter with 'Gangnam Style' in 2012, and in 2020 and 2021, BTS dominated with 'Dynamite' and 'Butter' respectively. Jungkook became the first Korean artist to enter this chart in 11 years after Psy and the first Korean artist to have both group and solo activities listed on this chart.

'Seven' stormed the world as soon as it was released last year. The song shot straight to the top of the US Billboard Hot 100 chart and peaked at No. 3 on the UK Official Singles Chart Top 100.

Moreover, it achieved remarkable feats such as accumulating 1 billion streams in the shortest period in history (108 days) on the world's largest music streaming platform Spotify and ranking 4th on Spotify's 2023 Wrapped end-of-year campaign 'Top 10 Songs Globally'.

Along with this, Jungkook won trophies at prestigious international music award ceremonies such as 'Song of Summer' at the '2023 MTV Video Music Awards', 'Best Song' at the '2023 MTV Europe Music Awards', and 'Top Global K-Pop Song' at the '2023 Billboard Music Awards' with 'Seven'.
