NewJeans win 'Group of the Year' at the US Billboard Women in Music Awards

"Continuing to move forward" NewJeans has firmly established itself as a 'world-class group.'

NewJeans (Minji, Hani, Daniel, Haerin, Hyein) won the 'Group of the Year' award at the '2024 Billboard Women in Music Awards' held at the YouTube Theater in Los Angeles, USA on the 6th of last month (local time).

NewJeans is the first K-pop artist to win the 'Group of the Year' award at this event. Additionally, it has been nine years since a winner was announced in this category, following the globally popular American girl group Fifth Harmony in 2015. Country singer Lainey Wilson, who presented the award, introduced NewJeans by saying, "They led a new wave of girl groups in K-pop, which has long been a male-dominated genre."

With loud cheers from the audience, NewJeans took the stage and said, "I can't believe we're participating in such an amazing awards ceremony today." They continued, "All the artists here have inspired us, and thanks to you, our love and passion for music have grown even stronger. We are grateful."
