Red Velvet's Yeri is making her big screen debut in a horror film, expressing excitement about the new challenge.

According to her agency, SM Entertainment, on September 10, Kim Ye-rim has been cast as the lead role in the mystery horror film 'Next' (directed by Son Dong-wan). The movie follows a group of school friends who summon a ghost through a séance, leading to strange occurrences.

Yeri will play the character Park Ja-young, a responsible class president of Class 3-5 who participates in the séance to uncover the whereabouts of her missing sister. As bizarre events unfold, she struggles to ensure the survival of her friends.

Yeri has previously been active in Red Velvet's musical endeavors and has also ventured into acting, appearing in projects like 'Mint Condition', 'Blue Birthday', and 'Cheongdam International High School'.

In a statement, Yeri shared her thoughts: "I've always been interested in the horror genre, and I'm thrilled to take on this challenge. It's especially exciting as this is my first film since my debut, so I'm both nervous and eager. I'll work hard with the director, staff, and fellow actors to create a great movie."
