HYBE’s strategy to globalize K-Pop has finally broken through to the US Billboard charts.
HYBE and Geffen Records’ global girl group KATSEYE has entered the US Billboard main song chart ‘Hot 100’. This achievement follows their entry into the UK Official Singles ‘Top 100’, which is considered one of the two major charts worldwide alongside the US Billboard charts. According to the latest Billboard chart released on May 13th (local time) for the week of May 17th, KATSEYE’s (Daniela, Lara, Manon, Megan, Sophia, Yunchae) digital single ‘Gnarly’ debuted at number 92 on the ‘Hot 100’.
The song also showed strong performance on the Billboard Global charts. It ranked 39th on ‘Global (excluding the US)’ and 47th on ‘Global 200’. Riding on this popularity, KATSEYE re-entered the ‘Emerging Artists’ chart at number 11.
‘Gnarly’ previously signaled a breakthrough in the mainstream pop market by ranking 52nd on the UK Official ‘Singles Top 100’ (May 9-15). It also ranked 60th on Spotify’s ‘Weekly Top Songs Global’ (aggregation period May 2-8), raising expectations.
KATSEYE shared their feelings through HYBE, saying, “This moment feels so surreal and overwhelming. It’s a dream come true for us to be listed on the Billboard ‘Hot 100’. We’ve worked so hard, and this result seems to prove that effort and passion always bear fruit. We hope our journey can inspire all girls and boys who are chasing bigger dreams, and even give a little inspiration to someone.”
