Virtual idol group PLAVE has been nominated in the Main Category at the 'Music Awards Japan 2025 (MAJ).'

'Music Awards Japan' (MAJ) is Japan's largest international music awards show, conceived with the concept of "connecting the world and illuminating the future of music." It is hosted by CEIPA (Cultural and Entertainment Industry Promotion Association), a general incorporated association established in collaboration by the five major organizations of the Japanese music industry (Japan Record Association, Japan Association of Music Business, Japan Association of Music Producers, Japan Music Publishers Association, and Concert Promoters Association). Over 5,000 music industry professionals participate as voting members in the MAJ awards, and general listeners can also vote through Spotify. The Grand Ceremony, to be held on May 22nd at 7:30 PM, will present awards in six Main Category sections, including the Best Song Asia award, for which PLAVE is nominated. The event will be broadcast live on NHK and streamed worldwide on YouTube.

MAJ operates a total of 62 award categories, with the six Main Category awards being the most prominent: Song of the Year, Artist of the Year, New Artist of the Year, Album of the Year, Top Global Hit from Japan, and Best Song Asia.

PLAVE has been nominated for the Best Song Asia award with their second mini-album title track 'WAY 4 LUV,' which is awarded based on chart performance in East Asian and Southeast Asian countries. As the only virtual idol nominated in the Main Category, PLAVE has proven their popularity and influence in Japan. Along with PLAVE, the K-pop artists nominated in the Main Category are Rosé ('Apt.' for Song of the Year) and aespa ('Supernova' for Best Song Asia), totaling three teams. At the SUB CATEGORY awards ceremony held on May 21st, NewJeans’ ‘Ditto’ won Best K-Pop Song in Japan.

Meanwhile, PLAVE will release their Japanese debut single 'Kakurenbo (かくれんぼ)' on June 16th and begin full-scale activities in Japan. They will then embark on an Asia tour in August, expanding their musical spectrum and global influence.
