BTS’s RM has been honored with an award at the ‘American Music Awards’ (AMA), one of the three major American music awards shows.

According to the official website of the ‘American Music Awards’ on May 26th (local time), RM was selected as the winner in the ‘Favorite K-Pop Artist’ category.

This makes him the only K-Pop artist to win a trophy at the ‘American Music Awards’ both as a group member and a solo artist. BTS previously won ‘Artist of the Year’ – the equivalent of the grand prize – along with ‘Favorite Pop Duo/Group’ and ‘Favorite Pop Song’ at the 2021 AMAs. In 2022, they also won ‘Favorite Pop Duo or Group’ and ‘Favorite K-Pop Artist,’ taking home two awards.

RM received critical acclaim for his second solo album, ‘Right Place, Wrong Person,’ released in May of last year. ‘Right Place, Wrong Person’ was selected as one of the ‘Best Albums of 2024’ by several prominent overseas media outlets, including Billboard, Rolling Stone, and NME, and several tracks from the album were also included on ‘Best Songs of 2024’ lists.

Notably, RM’s title track, ‘LOST!’, was recognized for its artistry and originality. At the time of the album's release, British music magazine NME gave ‘Right Place, Wrong Person’ a perfect score of 5 out of 5 stars, calling it a “beautiful and intriguing artistic work.”

Grammy.com also highly praised RM’s versatility and creative ability, praising the album’s overall quality. The music video for ‘LOST!’ recently swept three categories at the ‘2025 Shark Music Video Awards’ in the UK, winning ‘Best Music Video,’ ‘Best R&B / Soul Video,’ and ‘Best Direction.’ The music video had previously won multiple awards at the UK Music Video Awards, the German Sisalope Festival, and the Berlin Commercial Awards.
