HYBE and Geffen Records’ global girl group KATSEYE continues to demonstrate strong performance on major US Billboard charts with their single “Gnarly.”
According to the latest Billboard charts released on May 28th (dated May 31st), “Gnarly” by KATSEYE ranked 32nd on ‘Global (excluding US)’ and 53rd on ‘Global 200’. This marks the third consecutive week the song has appeared on both charts.
Spotify, the world’s largest music streaming platform, also continued to showcase the strength of “Gnarly.” The song ranked 45th on the latest ‘Daily Top Songs Global’ (dated May 27th). It entered the chart at 91st on May 2nd and has steadily climbed the rankings. Previously, it held its position at 46th for two consecutive weeks on the ‘Weekly Top Songs Global’ (aggregated May 16-22), maintaining its highest rank to date. This consistent streaming performance demonstrates that KATSEYE is building a solid global fanbase beyond temporary buzz.
“Gnarly,” released on April 30th, blends hyperpop with dance and punk elements. Its bold and experimental sound, combined with KATSEYE’s powerful performance, has made a strong impression on music fans worldwide. The song simultaneously entered the UK ‘Official Singles Top 100’ and the US Billboard ‘Hot 100’ upon its release. This is a remarkable achievement for a group that has yet to celebrate its first anniversary.
KATSEYE was formed through the global audition project ‘Dream Academy’ and debuted in June of last year after undergoing a Korean-style training program focused on performance, vocals, and teamwork. Leveraging HYBE’s nurturing and production system and the “K-pop methodology,” the group has emerged as a rising “next-generation pop icon.” Their second EP, ‘BEAUTIFUL CHAOS,’ is scheduled for release on June 27th. KATSEYE stated that through this new release, “we will most clearly show who we are as a group and in what direction we are heading.”
