Jennie’s ‘Ruby’ Named Billboard’s 2025 Album of the Year – “A Symbol of Artistry”

BLACKPINK’s Jennie’s ‘Ruby’ is being hailed as one of the best albums of 2025 by leading international media outlets, and has now been named by Billboard as a standout album of the year – “a symbol of artistry.”

On June 24th (local time), Billboard announced its list of “The 50 Best Albums of 2025 So Far” on its official website, and Jennie’s first full-length solo album ‘Ruby’ was included. Jennie is the only K-pop artist to be featured on the list. Billboard described ‘Ruby’ as “the first project that confidently radiates Jennie’s long-awaited official solo debut, elegance, and powerful energy.”

Billboard continued, “The album begins with ‘like JENNIE,’ which boldly reveals Jennie’s confident side through direct and assertive lyrics. This energy continues throughout the album, with each track reinforcing the core themes and reflecting ‘Ruby’ as a symbol of Jennie’s artistry. ‘Ruby’ is rare, authentic, and multifaceted.”

Finally, Billboard stated, “This project naturally combines the powerful energy expressed through femininity with newly found creative freedom, showcasing Jennie’s perfect control over sound, visuals, and direction.” Previously, renowned American music magazine Rolling Stone and American media outlet Complex had also selected Jennie’s ‘Ruby’ as one of the “Best Albums of 2025.” Jennie has proven her global influence and presence by being the only K-pop artist to be named on the “Best Albums of 2025” lists of leading international media outlets.

‘Ruby,’ which Jennie directly produced to embody her identity and limitless musical potential, features a total of 15 tracks of various genres, including the title track ‘like JENNIE.’
