The virtual idol group PLAVE has demonstrated its powerful presence by sweeping major Japanese music charts with its latest single album.
According to Oricon on July 17th, PLAVE’s first Japanese single “Kakurenbo (かくれんぼ)” recorded 221,385 points (22.1 million points) in the latest ‘Weekly Combined Single Ranking’ (aggregation period: July 7th to July 13th), earning it the #1 spot with the highest weekly points for any overseas artist this year. PLAVE previously topped the Oricon ‘Weekly Single Ranking’ as well. This also marked the highest first-week sales for any overseas artist this year, achieving a two-crown feat on the Oricon weekly music rankings.
On July 16th (aggregation period: July 7th to July 13th), PLAVE also topped both the Billboard Japan ‘Top Singles Sales’ chart and the ‘Billboard Japan Hot 100,’ achieving a four-crown feat across major Japanese music charts including Oricon. PLAVE has demonstrated its rapid rise and high level of popularity in Japan by dominating major charts following its Japanese debut.
PLAVE successfully concluded its debut showcase in Tokyo on June 16th alongside the release of the song and has since embarked on full-scale activities, achieving outstanding results across all music and album categories. The song entered the ‘Hall of Fame’ (a qualification given to albums exceeding 1 million streams within 24 hours of release) on Melon, a major domestic platform in Korea, as the first Japanese-language song to do so, garnering significant attention. The album topped the Oricon chart ‘Daily Single Ranking’ on its release day.
PLAVE’s Japanese debut single album features a total of three tracks. The title track, “Kakurenbo (かくれんぼ),” is PLAVE’s first original Japanese-language song, reinterpreting PLAVE’s band sound in a Japanese style. It also includes newly translated Japanese versions of existing songs, “RIZZ - Japanese Ver.” and “Chroma Drift - Japanese Ver.”
Meanwhile, PLAVE will kick off its first Asia tour, ‘Dash: Quantum Leap,’ in two years, starting with concerts at the KSPO DOME in Olympic Park from August 15th to 17th.
