SEVENTEEN Makes Another Meaningful Donation: $1 Million Last Year, $250,000 This Year
Boy group SEVENTEEN (S.Coups, Jeonghan, Joshua, Jun, Hoshi, Wonwoo, Woozi, The8, Mingyu, DK, Seungkwan, Vernon, Dino), who serve as UNESCO Youth Ambassadors, have once again carried out a meaningful act of giving.
According to their agency Pledis Entertainment, SEVENTEEN donated $250,000 to UNESCO on August 12 in celebration of International Youth Day. The donation comes from the proceeds of the charity auction JOOPITER presents: sacai x SEVENTEEN and will be used to strengthen the Global Youth Grant Scheme, a fund launched jointly by SEVENTEEN and UNESCO.
JOOPITER presents: sacai x SEVENTEEN is a limited collection the group released in collaboration with fashion brand sacai and JOOPITER, a digital commerce content platform founded by legendary artist and producer Pharrell Williams, in June. Items included leather jackets designed by the members and signed T-shirts, limited-edition collaborations featuring the popular character Labooboo created by Kasing Lung, and necklaces co-designed with designer Yoon Ahn.
Through the agency, SEVENTEEN shared, “Since our debut, we have expressed the diverse moments of youth through music that reflects our genuine experiences and emotions. This makes International Youth Day even more meaningful to us. We send our encouragement to all young people around the world who are still pursuing their dreams.”
In 2023, SEVENTEEN became the first K-pop artist invited to speak and perform at the 13th UNESCO Youth Forum held at UNESCO headquarters in Paris. Last year, they were appointed UNESCO’s first Youth Ambassadors and donated $1 million to create a fund supporting the creativity and well-being of young people worldwide. This fund is used to back self-directed projects by 100 youth groups aiming for a better future.
