Zico Releases “DUET” Lyric Video, Capturing His Collaboration with Lilas
Zico has unveiled new content that allows fans to fully enjoy the lyrics of his latest single, captivating both eyes and ears.
On the 22nd at 10 p.m., Zico released the lyric video for his new single “DUET” via his official social media channels. The video features behind-the-scenes footage from the music video shoot, in which Japanese star musician Lilas (Ikura of YOASOBI), who collaborated on the song, appears in person. Filmed in Japan, the video highlights an exotic atmosphere and adds visual appeal.
The lyrics vividly reflect the meeting of Zico and Lilas. Japanese lines such as “Tokyo to Seoul 時空を超えて” (“From Tokyo to Seoul, transcending time and space”) and “二人で重ねる melody” (“A melody we build together”), blend seamlessly with Korean lyrics like “Opposite vocal tones, contrasting styles,” and “Like mixing paints, swirl, swirl, play it—let’s duet.” Each artist wrote their own parts, clearly expressing their individual musical identities.
The behind-the-scenes footage from the music video is also a highlight. Free-spirited moments shared by Zico, Lilas, and various dancers give a glimpse into the cheerful and relaxed atmosphere on set.
“DUET” originated from the idea, “What would it be like to perform a duet with an ideal partner?” The collaboration between Zico, a leading figure in Korean hip-hop, and Lilas, who represents Japanese band music, drew significant attention even before release. The song was produced and written by the same production team that worked with Zico on last year’s hit “SPOT! (feat. JENNIE),” further enhancing its quality.
The track reached No. 1 on YouTube Korea’s Trending Music chart at 5 p.m. on the 21st and has maintained the top position as of 7 a.m. on the 23rd. It also ranked No. 6 on Spotify Korea’s Daily Top Songs chart and No. 23 on Apple Music Korea’s Today’s Top 100. Additionally, as of 7 a.m. on the 23rd, “DUET” entered the iTunes Top Songs charts in eight countries and regions, including Japan, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia, and Malaysia. The music video itself topped YouTube Korea’s Daily Popular Music Videos chart on the 20th.
