Dayoung of WJSN (Cosmic Girls) wrapped up a highly successful 2025 with her solo debut track “body,” dominating international media coverage and heightening anticipation for what lies ahead in 2026.

According to The Hollywood Reporter (THR), which released its list of “The 40 Best K-pop Songs of 2025” on December 29 (local time), Dayoung’s solo debut song “body” was selected for the ranking. THR described “body” as one of the most unexpected hit songs of 2025, stating that it “demonstrates just how powerful the result can be when an artist fully understands what suits them and commits to it without hesitation.”

Previously, Dayoung had already earned recognition from major international outlets, including the UK’s NME, which named “body” among its “25 Best K-pop Songs of 2025,” and Billboard, which included the track in its “25 Best K-pop Songs of 2025: Staff Picks.” In addition, Teen Vogue selected the “body” music video as one of the Best K-pop Music Videos of 2025. Through this wave of acclaim from global media, Dayoung once again proved the success and impact of her solo debut.

Dayoung officially launched her solo career in September last year with the digital single “gonna love me, right?” With its title track “body,” she unveiled a new musical direction and visual identity, firmly establishing her presence as a solo artist. Upon release, “body” peaked at No. 9 on Melon’s TOP100 chart and entered the Top 20 of the weekly chart as of the second week of October, marking a remarkable rise. Dayoung further solidified her capabilities by taking home a first-place trophy on a music show with “body,” clearly demonstrating her strength as a solo performer.
