KBS apologized for sending profanity subtitles during the live broadcast of the launch of Artemis No. 2.

On the 2nd, KBS bowed its head through the official YouTube channel bulletin board, saying, "We apologize for the AI automatic translation error that occurred during the YouTube live streaming service of Artemis 2 launch on April 2, 2026.

"During NASA's live broadcasting process, some words were mistranslated into profanity due to the similarity of word pronunciation during the automatic generation of real-time translation through AI," he said. "I sincerely apologize to the viewers for the exposure of the wrong phrase in profanity."

"KBS has taken measures such as a ban on returning immediately after recognizing the accident, and is in close consultation with related departments and companies to prevent such mistranslation from recurring, and is seeking improvements such as strengthening AI abusive filtering," he said.

KBS broadcast live footage of the launch of NASA's manned spacecraft Artemis 2 with real-time artificial intelligence (AI) translated subtitles. In the process, "Roger, roll, pitch" among the control communications was misinterpreted as "Roger, roll, pitch" and sent to the screen.

The phrase is 'Roger'. Mistranslation occurred when AI recognized pronunciation such as "pitch" as slang, or a technical term in the aerospace field called "Roll and Pitch Posture Adjustment."
