Actress Moon Geun-young opened up about the burden of the title "National Younger Sister."

On the 22nd episode of tvN's variety program "You Quiz on the Block," Moon Geun-young, the eternal "National Younger Sister" who returned after recovering from a rare disease, appeared on a talk show for the first time in 16 years to share her recent updates.

That day, Moon Geun-young confessed that she is now a veteran actress in her 28th year since debut, revealing, "I turned 40 in the meantime," surprising everyone.

She added, "Since I enjoy eating, I've gained quite a bit of weight, so I'm worried about dieting. I'm managing my diet, and since the current performance requires a lot of physical effort, I'm using the performance as my exercise."

Moon Geun-young, who debuted at the early age of 13, said about the title "National Younger Sister," "At that time, it was both burdensome and scary. I wasn't as bright, cute, and lovable as you might think, nor was I kind and well-mannered."

She continued, "Since everyone viewed me positively and beautifully, it became burdensome and I suddenly felt scared. I felt I absolutely couldn't make a mistake. While the descriptors were grateful, I think they were somewhat overwhelming."

Meanwhile, Moon Geun-young was diagnosed with acute compartment syndrome during a 2017 performance of the play "Romeo and Juliet" and underwent surgery four times. After a long rehabilitation, she announced her full recovery in 2024 and has continued her activities.
