After watching the performance, Joo Young-hoon surprised everyone by saying, "Actually, 'Sarangseureowo' was a song I created for a four-member Japanese girl group."

He continued, "It was a song composed with chord progressions tailored to Japanese tastes. Contrary to expectations, the agency rejected it. So, whenever I was asked to write a song, I tried to sell it as an add-on, but they kept rejecting it. I was about to throw it away, but I gave it to Kim Jong-kook along with another song I had written for him. However, he rejected the original song I intended to give him and chose to perform 'Sarangseureowo' instead."

Joo Young-hoon recalled with satisfaction, "I asked Kim Jong-kook, who is muscular, if he really matched the song, and he said yes. I recorded it with the mindset of just trying it out, and suddenly the song became a huge hit, winning the love of many people, and Kim Jong-kook was blessed with winning the Grand Prize at the Music Awards that year."
