Kim Tae-won of the band Revival offered warm comfort to Shim Woo-ri, who is battling colon cancer.

The TV Chosun variety program "Joseon's Lover," broadcast on the 6th, was specially planned as a three-part series titled "Joseon's Lover Singing Contest" for its fifth anniversary.

On this day, actress Jeong Yi-rang appeared on stage with her high school friend Shim Woo-ri.

Jeong Yi-rang explained about her friend: "She has dreamed of becoming a singer since childhood. She even graduated from the practical music department, but due to marriage and various other reasons, that dream was postponed." She added, "Just as she was planning to pursue various activities through a working band now that life had become stable, she was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer."

Shim Woo-ri revealed, "It was extremely difficult during the two years of my illness. I received a diagnosis in August 2023 and underwent open surgery three times over those two years, as well as chemotherapy 12 times."

She expressed her gratitude to Jeong Yi-rang, who provided great strength and comfort during her battle with cancer. Shim Woo-ri said, "(Jeong) Yi-rang prayed for me for two years. I think I am alive because of that," adding, "So I am so grateful and feel like I will be thankful for the rest of my life."

The two performed the song "Love That Makes Me Live" by singer Geum Jan-di. After the performance, both were overwhelmed with emotion and began to sob uncontrollably.

Judge Kim Tae-won told Shim Woo-ri, who had battled cancer, "Music might have some kind of superpower. If you have a heart that loves music, painful memories may not come back."

Recalling his own battle with illness, he stated, "I lived a life of the same style back then. Every time, I lived thinking about music."

Meanwhile, it is known that Kim Tae-won underwent stomach cancer surgery in 2011. Additionally, sepsis he suffered from in 2016 recurred in 2019.

Regarding this, Kim Tae-won appeared on a variety program in 2024 and said, "Through the broadcast, I was miraculously discovered to have early-stage stomach cancer. If left untreated, it would have been difficult to survive even one year from that point because I drank alcohol every day." He also revealed that he has fully recovered after surgery.

He also confessed that he suffered sequelae from sepsis: "I lost my sense of smell, my vision deteriorated significantly, and although I originally had perfect pitch, I have lost much of it."
