Actor Lee Seong-shin appears in key scenes as Jung Eun-seong in the short drama 'Check Mate', delivering highly immersive acting.

Lee Seong-shin portrays Jung Eun-seong, a steadfast number one student who drew everyone's attention during school days and triggered Cheon Woo-jin's character Lee Su-hyun's feelings of inferiority and obsession. As time passes, the two reunite, intertwining past emotions with current events, and Jung Eun-seong emerges as a core character driving the drama's tension and relationship dynamics, showcasing a powerful presence.

In particular, Lee Seong-shin received praise for capturing varying emotional temperatures in each scene, from Jung Eun-seong's cold composure to inner turmoil and hidden sincerity.

◆First appearance of the steadfast number one, Jung Eun-seong, who is gaining attention

Jung Eun-seong was the top student in school and drew all eyes, becoming a trigger for Lee Su-hyun's inferiority and obsession. Lee Seong-shin completed Jung Eun-seong's symbolic presence through his relaxed demeanor and natural aura alone, signaling the starting point of conflict early in the drama.

◆Tension built solely through reunion

The reunion scene between Jung Eun-seong and Lee Su-hyun after time has passed marks a turning point where their relationship begins to truly waver. Unlike Lee Su-hyun, who expected Jung Eun-seong to recognize him, Jung Eun-seong responded calmly, creating an unexpected temperature difference. Lee Seong-shin conveyed a subtle sense of distance within his seemingly indifferent expression and relaxed posture, densely expressing the intense tension flowing between the two characters.

◆From coldness to warmth... emotional reversal

In the latter part of the drama, Jung Eun-seong could no longer hide his worry and anxiety toward Lee Su-hyun, portraying a side different from his previously cold and composed self. Especially in crisis situations, his wavering gaze and desperate emotions revealed the character's hidden sincerity. Lee Seong-shin naturally moved between strong charisma and delicate emotional lines, completing Jung Eun-seong's three-dimensional character.

Meanwhile, Lee Seong-shin debuted as a model in 2018 and has been active through various fashion show stages such as Seoul Fashion Week and TV commercials. In 2021, he appeared in the music video for 'Will We Become a Song' by Nerd Connection, showcasing melodic acting. 'Check Mate' is currently available in full on the short drama platform 'Rezin Snack'.
