The film 'First World,' starring actress Soobin, has been officially invited to the competition section of the 51st Toronto International Film Festival.

According to her agency, Nun Company, on the 23rd, director Yoon Dan-bi's second feature film 'First World' has been officially selected for the Platform section of the 51st Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), scheduled from September 10 to 20, and confirmed for its world premiere screening.

The Platform section is the only competition segment at the Toronto International Film Festival, showcasing directors with distinct directorial visions and original cinematic worlds. 'First World' has made a meaningful record as the second Korean film ever to be officially invited to the Platform section.

The film 'First World' tells the story of Jin (played by Soobin), a 17-year-old girl living on an island that is not connected by land, who returns to the island for her grandmother's funeral and meets Doo-jae (played by Kim Eo-jin). There, she confronts unfamiliar desires and emotions blooming within herself for the first time in her life.

Soobin portrays the protagonist Jin, delicately depicting the complex inner world and emotional shifts of a 17-year-old girl becoming aware of her desires for the first time. She is set to express with intensity the process of wavering before emotions, experiencing confusion, and gradually growing.

Meanwhile, Soobin, who made her debut last year with the film 'The Road Erased,' has been gaining attention as a promising next-generation talent by steadily building her filmography through dramas such as 'Secret Gratitude,' 'Remembering You,' and 'True Education' this year.

In particular, her lead role in 'The Road Erased' was officially invited to the 76th Berlin International Film Festival, the 30th Busan International Film Festival, the 51st Seoul Independent Film Festival, the 50th Hong Kong International Film Festival, and others, widely showcasing her potential and acting skills both domestically and internationally. Through this 'First World,' she has once again taken a meaningful step onto the global stage.
