Following the cancellation of its Busan International Film Festival schedule, the side for the film 'The Assassins' has also fully canceled the theater greeting schedule for the second week of its release.

On the 2nd, HYBE Media Cop, the production company behind 'The Assassins,' stated in an official position that "after carefully reviewing and discussing the various situations surrounding the work, we have decided not to proceed with the scheduled theater greetings from October 3 to October 5 due to unavoidable circumstances."

To mark its second week of release, 'The Assassins' was scheduled to hold theater greetings in Seoul, Suwon, Incheon, and Busan. However, the production company canceled the schedule out of concern that controversies surrounding the work were spreading to the cast and crew.

HYBE Media Cop conveyed, "We respect the diverse opinions and interest shown toward the work, while also expressing concern that the situation surrounding the film is leading to excessive burdens on the cast and crew even outside of the work itself."

It further explained, "This decision was made after much deliberation, taking into account the protection of those involved in the work and the impact it would have on audiences visiting theaters and theater staff."

The side also apologized to audiences who had completed reservations and were waiting for the greetings. The production company stated, "We are deeply troubled to have caused disappointment and inconvenience to audiences who took time out of their schedules to reserve tickets and prepare to visit, expecting a meeting. We deeply appreciate the efforts of theater staff who prepared the event, and we ask for your understanding that we will not be able to join the scheduled events."

It added, "As the production company, we will carefully look after the cast, crew, and those who have supported the work, and fulfill our responsibility in guiding audiences and taking follow-up measures."

Previously, the side for 'The Assassins' canceled its attendance at the Busan International Film Festival opening ceremony on that day, as well as the outdoor greeting schedule planned for the 7th. At the time, the production company explained that it was a decision made with consideration for the safety of audiences and attendees.

As a result, following the cancellation of the theater greetings scheduled from the 3rd to the 5th, and the subsequent cancellation of Busan International Film Festival-related schedules, the official audience meeting schedule for 'The Assassins' has been effectively halted in its entirety.

'The Assassins' is a film that traces the suspicions and masterminds behind an incident, using the 1974 assassination attempt on Lady Yoo Young-sook as a motif. Since its release on the 23rd of last month, controversies have continued as political circles and related organizations have raised criticism of historical distortion over certain settings in the film.
