Artist Lee Jung was honored with the Minister’s Commendation from the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism at the Popular Culture and Arts Awards.

At the 17th Republic of Korea Popular Culture and Arts Awards (hereinafter “Popular Culture and Arts Awards”), held on the 29th at the Haerom Theater in the National Theater in Jung-gu, Seoul, Lee Jung received the Minister’s Commendation from the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism as a choreographer representing K-content.

The “Popular Culture and Arts Awards,” first held in 2010 and now in its 17th edition, is the most authoritative government award in the field of popular culture and arts. It was established to honor the contributions of those who have contributed to the development of the popular culture and arts industry while enhancing the social status and creative enthusiasm of popular culture and arts figures.

Lee Jung, a choreographer for artists representing K-pop and who has been active on the variety show “Street Woman Fighter,” leading the popularization of K-dance, further demonstrated her global influence by directing performances for the Netflix animated film “KPop Demon Hunters,” which swept the world last year.

Immediately after receiving the award, Lee Jung shared her thoughts, saying, “I sincerely thank everyone who recognized the power and potential of dance and sent their support and love. I also want to express my respect and gratitude to fellow dancers who quietly uphold their own dance and continue their passion in their respective positions.” She further expressed her sincerity and aspirations, stating, “Going forward, I will strive to broaden the possibilities of dance and contribute to Korean popular culture.”

Meanwhile, Lee Jung is expected to continue her active activities.
